Outfit:Cotton Candy

Last Tuesday I attended the Cap FABB event at Urban chic, and before I put the pictures up from the event I wanted to share with you what I wore :) If the skirt looks familiar you're absolutely right, it's the one I scored at the Thrift Store in this post. Since it was way more sheer than I had originally noticed I wore a leopard mini-skirt underneath it.
(Note to self don't wear that nude bra with this top again)
I kept it pretty simple with light makeup & a soft pink lip. This was my first time wearing a maxi skirt & I felt really comfortable in it! In the future I might pair it with a crop top or a knotted button-up.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend & remember there's still time to vote here on the LPM 3 Way Style Challenge :)

Michelle's B-day @ 901

Last Saturday night myself and several others went out to celebrate Michelle's Birthday. I haven't even known Michelle for a year yet, but we just get each other & it's such a wonderful friendship :) It's always great to have those friends that you can truly be yourself around & not have to worry that they think you're weird haha although she probably knows better than most just how goofy & weird I am. Anyways, we had dinner at 901 which is a tapas restaurant & lounge .. let me tell you it did NOT disappoint it was so yummmy!!
Above, the beautiful Birthday girl
Pineapple Mojito, let me just tell you this was deeelicious & I don't typically go for mojitos
I started with Crab Cake Sliders .. I've been on a serious sliders kick recently
Roasted Hoisin Duck Roll .. NO WORDS.. when I tell you I died & went to heaven after my first bite .. omg I'm seriously drooling right now looking at it
I went for the "VAMPIRE" look again.
The last time I wore dark lipstick out was months ago in this post.

Tasty Tuesdays: Shells & Rainbows

These are actually pictures from a meal I made several weeks ago from scratch :) Normally I follow a recipe & make little alterations as I'm preparing it, but this time it was all from my noggin!! I was inspired by all the colorful produce in my fridge so I thought why not put all these pretty colors together? First off chop up your peppers & onions.
I used 1 red onion & the equivalent of 1 1/2 peppers.
(I would advise cutting the onions & peppers smaller so that they're more manageable)
then shred up some cheese, I used Pepper Jack cheese to give it a little kick
I was going for a mexican flair so I used Chorizo Mexicano, but in the future I would use a different meat. This chorizo had a LOT of fat in it, & I love fat but this was a bit much. Next time I make this I'm going to swap out the chorizo for a non crumbling sausage like this one.
I LOVE pairing shell pasta with a creamy cheese sauce so that the shells get filled with lots of yummy cheese .. I'm sure you can see a theme here :)
Now it's time to start sauteing all the veggies in olive oil & get the pasta water boiling
Funny Story: while cooking (& looking a hot mess) I started to smell a campfire sort of scent & at first I started thinking to myself "oh that's nice I haven't been to a bonfire in forever." Shortly after that I realized that that lovely scent was coming from the stove, more importantly from my wooden serving spoon :( So when/if you're preparing this dish try not to hang the wooden spoon over the flame that's boiling the water.
After boiling the noodles save a little bit of that water to add to the pan of sauteed vegetables. Over low heat mix in the pasta, cooked meat, shredded cheese, and a teeny bit of cream just to provide a little more sauce for the pasta. Mix every once in a while until the sauce thickens up.
Yes that pathetic little green clump on the top is cilantro, I learned the hard way that cilantro doesn't freeze very well nor does it thaw very well, oh well lesson learned I'll just buy it fresh next time.
Overall this is a simple, colorful, cheesy little dish that's perfect for weeknights since you can chop the vegetables the night before as well as use meat that's already been cooked. Do you have any favorite weeknight dishes? If you do I'd love to hear about them :) I can't wait for tonight's Cap FABB meet-up at Urban Chic in D.C.!!

Thrifting Haul (My 1st Video)

Hey everyone, so I'm trying out something new on the blog tonight ... A VIDEO!! Ok, don't be too harsh because I did it in one take & I know the lighting is ehh .. but whatever it was fun & I hope you enjoy it :)
Earlier today I went thrifting with several other bloggers including: Stephy, Vivi, Katalina, & several others at the Value Village in Lanham.
below are my four purchases
& some close up shots of the details
I can't wait to wear each of these, & will probably end up wearing one of the pieces Tuesday to the April CapFABB event. Can't wait to see everyone Tuesday at Urban Chic!
PS: I'm going to post some of the pictures from Michelle's Birthday & my outfit a little later this week

Pink Polish

Good afternoon everyone!! Today was one of those days where you accomplish a lot in a short period of time, but you still have time to relax :) Earlier today I went to a job interview at a local restaurant & I got it before I even filled out the application. They promised me that after I finish training next week that I'll probably get moved up to bar tending!! After cleaning the house I decided that it was definitely time for me to touch up my polish since it'd been holding on for dear life for the past couple of weeks.
Hope you're having a FUN Saturday!! Now I'm off to finish getting ready before Michelle's B-day tonight :) hmmm.. I haven't decided what to wear yet, any advice??

Summer Staple: Distressed Denim Cut-offs

I will be the first one to tell you that I love short shorts! I know that I'm not petite (I don't think I ever was nor will I ever be) and some people may think that I should cover up more .. too bad. Anyways, I have been enjoying making my own personalized denim cut-offs & I don't plan on stopping any time soon :) They honestly go with everything .. except maybe church, but there's always after church! If you're anything like me you pick the shoe & build the outfit around it .. let the outfit planning begin :)
Feel free to also pair the shorts with blazers, cardigans, & a knotted-tee

via 1//2//denim post (me)

I hope that I've inspired you to go out & buy a cute pair, or even better .. to make your own pair!
If you have a favorite pair of denim cut-off shorts I'd love to see them, so you can leave a link in the comment section if you like :) I hope to share with all of you all the different pairs of shorts I've made over the past couple of weeks!

SMU: Spicy Candy Lookbook Launch Party!

I'm seriously such a bad blogger, but life does take priority over blogging lol. Hopefully I'll be able to start doing more regular posts again!! Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Spicy Candy D.C. South Moon Under Lookbook event in Clarendon. I'm seriously so proud of these ladies, they killed the lookbook and I couldn't be more excited for them & can't wait to see what the future has in store :)

It was such a fun event filled with beautiful clothing as well as beautiful people (always a given at these events). We were also so lucky to have Dani Stahl (Editor-at-Large at Nylon Magazine) there at the event. She is so naturally beautiful, and one of the nicest people, I was so excited to get a chance to chat with her :)
