2012 A Year in Review!

Here's a quick little recap of this past year's highlights!
It started out with a feature in the Washingtonian, so glad I was able to be a part of it :)

This year was definitely the year of the TOP KNOT, both braided & sock bun [1/2]

Had such a fun time attending my first FNO Georgetown with wonderful friends!

I made these shorts from thrifted jeans & they quickly became my summer staple[1/2]

Had such a fun time co-hosting the Gossip Girl farewell party earlier this month.

I've had a lot of fun experimenting with lipsticks this year & I'm building quite the arsenal!

I've made so many great memories at the LPM Loft & had so many laughs with these ladies <3

Looking forward to many more D.I.Y. projects this year! [1/2/3/4]

One of my favorite features on the blog Tasty Tuesday, where I get my foodie on. [Shrimp & Grits]

One of my biggest life changes this year was that David & I moved into our first Apartment! I can't believe that it's already been a year & that we're already on planning on moving to a different apartment  in February :) My goal for the new apartment is to do a better job of making it feel like a home & keeping it better organized .. we'll see how that goes.

Can't wait to see all the beauty & experiences 2013 has up its' sleeve <3 Party Safely tonight!!

Casual Go-To Outfit

I love 3 day weekends & I love beautiful weather, so this past weekend was absolutely perfect! Since this week is pretty jam packed, I wanted to make sure that I got to spend some quality time with David this past weekend :) I decided to finally use the gift card I won in this post to go on an early dinner date with him in Bethesda at Haven Pizzeria Napoletano. The weather was in the mid 60's so a light sweater, scarf, & pants it was (accompanied by my trusty braided top-knot)!
My handsome date <3 // Coal Oven Roasted Red Peppers with Prosciutto
The biggest PIZZA EVERRR with Pepperoni, Prosciutto, & Sausage // Gift Card in a mini Pizza Box

It's so funny going shopping with David because our styles are so different. I love bright colors & fun patterns, whereas he is all about the classics. A lot of times when we go on dates I find myself dressing more "calmly" for him haha because I know that he likes low key outfits. Either way, it was a wonderful day & I'm so happy that he's mine :) Sorry to be so "Lovey Dovey" .. it may have something  to do with the fact that he brought me lunch to work since I woke up late & didn't have time to make anything.

PS: If you don't have plans for this Saturday don't fret because I've got you covered :) Come join myself & tons of other stylish ladies at Dew Drop's Glitter Glam Swap & Shop! To find out more information & to buy tickets click here.

Stripes & Shadowland

Hey everyone, I hope that you're at home bundled up safe and warm!! I'm at work right now writing this blog post from the squad room and chomping on donuts (yes, the stereotype is kinda true). This is a quick outfit post from Saturday's Arundel Mill's trend & shopping event. It was such a wonderful morning filled with fabulous clothing & great company (more on that later).
Leggings- TARGET, Heels- STEVE MADDEN

I thrifted this gorgeous striped blazer almost a year ago, and I'm so glad that I finally got to take it out for a spin! It's definitely a statement piece that attracts a lot of attention so I decided to pair it down with a casual vintage tee and other black basics. Of course since this was an early morning event I opted for the effortless top knot bun and simple makeup. I had to take advantage of the beautiful weather so I decided to do my outfit shots outside the mall. A huge thanks to Erika of The Fab & Frugal for taking my outfit shots, didn't she do a great job?! :) It's definitely a lot easier having another blogger take your pictures because they already know all the different types of pictures you want haha. Anyways, I hope that everyone stays safe and that we don't lose power!

Braided Ballerina

This past Friday night I went out to celebrate my friend Alysia's Birthday in Adams Morgan. Let me tell you going out in the Summer VS. going out in Fall/Arctic temperatures is sooo different especially when you're trying to figure out what to wear! In the summer you can pretty much get away with wearing anything .. mini skirt, shorts, sun dress, etc.  Ohh No my friends NOT ANY MORE!! I decided to challenge myself to wear something other than my staple outfit of leggings, tunic, & a button-up & I was pleasantly surprised with what I ended up with :)
Top (Slip worn as shirt), Shorts (DIY), Blazer, Necklace-THRIFTED,

Until doing this post I didn't realize that nearly my entire outfit aside from my tights & shoes were thrifted (I <3 that)! This look is so easy & surprisingly functional for a night on the town :) This is one of my FIRST times ever wearing a blazer because usually they make me feel big & boxy, but the key is finding a blazer made of light material that fits the curves of your body. I decided to wear my hair up because I knew once we started dancing I'd get hot & want it up out of my face. These high waisted D.I.Y. shorts are so comfy & pair well with anything so I'll probably wear this exact outfit again & just swap out a different style blouse under the blazer. This outfit + my hair made me feel like a total ballerina haha too bad I'm not graceful. To see how I did this bun check out THIS tutorial :)
Lastly I wanted to share a pic of myself with the beautiful Birthday Girl!
Alysia I love you so much & I know that this next year is gonna be GRRREAT for you <3

Blue Suns in Chinatown

I just wanted to do a quick little outfit post of what I wore to today's Dew Drop Swap! We were lucky enough to have the most beautiful weather here in D.C. today so I opted for a simple comfy outfit  with an oversized scarf and open toed booties.

I opted for dark lipstick since we are easing our way towards fall and cooler temperatures. It's so funny that between wearing the booties and the dark lipstick by the end of the afternoon I was feeling like a "Bad A$$" haha. It really is true (at least for me) that depending on how you style an outfit and what makeup you pair with it can really dictate your "mood" or "persona".

I'm off to a birthday party for my dear friend Anya <3 I'm going to try and put up pictures from the event tomorrow on the blog, so stay tuned!! Happy Saturday everyone :) Also a big thanks to Kate for taking my outfit pictures!

New York Fashion Week Hair Workshop

I can't say enough how glad I am that I started blogging! When I first started I had no idea that blogging would lead me to so many new things, people, & experiences. As much as people say blogging is a cut throat world (sometimes it is) I have been so lucky to be surrounded by so many kind wonderful people who I now call my friends :) I spent yesterday morning at the La Petite Marmoset showroom in Columbia Heights to attend a hair workshop lead by Nadine Matar of PR at Partners. When I tell you she knows E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G about hair I'm telling you she knows all the tricks & tips to get beautiful hair! I was lucky enough to be the hair model (I LOVE MY LIFE) for the afternoon & I walked away with the skills to do: 3 Types of buns, 2 Techniques to curl my hair, & 4 Different ways to style a fishtail braid, not to mention so many facts about hair that I didn't know!
Started off the morning right with Mimosas hand crafted by Ashley of LPM
In case we didn't get a full serving of fruit through the mimosas we had plenty of other fresh fruit
Our beautiful & talented instructors: Nadine & Cara
Excited that I finally learned how to do a fishtail braid
Nadine making the finishing touches on Daphne's bun
Learning the secrets behind the perfect beachy waves
Katherine's awesome ear/hair piece paired with a top knot bun

Wow, now that you're overwhelmed by pictures & products I just wanted to give another huge thank you to Nadine for coming out to teach the class as well as PR at Partners for providing us with all the lovely products !! This was the first hair workshop that's been held at the PLM studio, but don't worry if you missed this one because there are going to be more in the future :)

Hope you all had fun weekends as well since tomorrow it's back to the work grind!
